Benchspace Bites are fun, hands-on introductory sessions designed for beginners to explore a craft for the first time. In just one class, you’ll learn fundamental techniques and create your very own piece — perfect for hobbyists, curious creatives, or anyone considering a future in making.

Discover the art of woodturning in this practical, welcoming class led by your tutor, Marea. You’ll start by learning the essentials – from understanding key tools and techniques to practicing safe workshop habits. Then, step up to the lathe and put your new knowledge to work, turning your very first piece with Marea’s expert support.
Perfect for complete beginners, this 2-hour session offers a friendly, inspiring environment to build confidence, learn core skills, and experience the satisfaction of creating something beautiful with your own hands.
Who can Join: This is a Beginner-Level class, suitable for Adults 18+ of all skill levels. Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow safety instructions are essential.

What to Wear: Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. If you need glasses for close up work, don’t forget to bring them.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE will be provided for all courses that require it. It must be worn as directed. All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
