benchspace Bites – Laser Cutting Taster – Thursday Evening – CRAFT MONTH
August Craft Month shines a spotlight on Ireland’s thriving craft scene and provides unique opportunities for people to learn about, make, see, and buy craft. Whether you’re curious to learn, eager to create, or looking to discover something handmade and meaningful, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
benchspace Bites are introductory hands-on sessions designed to give beginners a taste of our craft disciplines.
Whether a hobbyist, enthusiast or considering a career in digital fabrication, we will explore fundamental skills in this class.
If you have an interest in this digital tool, come along, experience laser cutting and get a feel for the possibilities opened up by this amazing machine. This is a fun taster class in laser cutting and whether for business, art or hobby, if you can draw it on a computer you can cut it using a laser!
Using sample products as inspiration, tutor Aidan will demonstrate the full process—from concept to finished piece—on our 'Big Red' laser cutter. You’ll then choose a product and be guided step by step as you create and cut your own custom piece.
You will need to bring a laptop and USB stick to complete this class.
Materials are included in the cost of the class and it is suitable for beginners to laser cutting with good basic computer skills.
We are fully inclusive and all skill levels (Adult 18+) are welcome, however, please note that this course requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow precise instructions with regards to safety.
