CORK, Jan. 8th, 2020. Benchspace, a Cork based multi discipline creative hub announced today that they have been a recipient of a Regional Enterprise Development Fund grant of 342k following the third call of the Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF).
Benchspace Cork is the first co-making space of its kind in Ireland, the project is inspired by similar successful projects in Holland, the UK and Australia. Such projects have turned post-industrial spaces into seed-beds for a new generation of creators, designers, and techies.
The grant will enable Benchspace to expand and establish a making and design hub in Cork City as a front door to the creativity of local artists, craft workers and contemporary designers.
The Benchspace Creative Hub will organise and equip graduate and existing creatives to commercialise their abilities and grow new enterprise in the region. It will provide relevant business skills, additional technical training and will assist with business development by building links into local industry, collaboratively seeking new innovations to add value.
Benchspace was established in 2017 as a social enterprise to help creatives start a business by providing space and equipment at an affordable rate.
