Skill Builder Knitting Workshop – Knit Socks with Sue – Nov 2026

Skill Builders are in-depth, hands-on courses and sessions designed for those ready to dive deeper into a specific craft discipline.  Whether you’re developing your skills for personal practice or working toward becoming a Benchspace Maker, these courses and sessions focus on building confidence, technique, and creative independence through guided, project-based learning.

Sock-Along Knitting Workshop
Discover the joy of hand-knitted socks in this relaxed and social Sock-Along.  Working step by step with tutor Sue, you’ll create your own pair while building the skills and confidence to make many more.

Across 4 evenings, you’ll explore the essentials of sock construction, from knitting in the round and creating the cuff, to turning a heel, shaping the gusset and finishing the toe.
Along the way, you’ll learn how to read a sock pattern, pick up stitches, work increases and decreases, choose suitable yarn and needles, and adjust sizing for a comfortable fit. Perfect for knitters who know basic knit and purl stitches and are ready for their next challenge.
No previous sock-knitting experience is needed!

Who can Join:  This is a Beginner-Level workshop, but you MUST be proficient in knit + purl (stockinette) stitches, and suitable for Adults 18+ of all skill levels.  Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow safety instructions are essential.

Here’s what to Wear:  Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair.  Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors.  If you need glasses for close up work, don’t forget to bring them.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):  PPE will be provided for all courses that require it.  It must be worn as directed.  All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
