Make a Sterling Silver Spinner Ring – Thursday Evening
benchspace Bites are introductory hands-on sessions designed to give beginners a taste of our craft disciplines.
Whether a hobbyist, enthusiast or considering a career in jewellery, we will explore fundamental skills and you will create your very own piece in a single class.
You spin me right round baby! Also known as mediation, prayer, fiddle, fidget and worry rings, these rings are often used for meditative contemplation and a guide for the wearer to return to the present moment.
Spend a creative Thursday evening with tutor Nadine in this 3 hour class and create your own unique sterling silver spinner ring.
Choose either an 8mm or 10mm sterling silver band, use our rolling mill to press a pattern into the silver, pick a finish, then add your layering bands from your choice of sterling silver, brass or copper.Materials are included in the cost of the workshop and no experience is necessary.
We are fully inclusive and all skill levels (Adult 18+) are welcome, however, please note that this course requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow precise instructions with regards to safety.

How to use a rolling mill to print texture.
How to anneal silver.
How to use the pickle bath.
How to solder silver.
How to form and manipulate metal using a mandrel.
How to sand and finish edges.
How to use a pendant drill.
How to flute edges to keep the spinners in place.
How to finish and polish your final piece.

Here's what to Wear:
Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. If you need glasses for close up work, don't forget to bring them.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
