Make a Sterling Silver Hammered Ring – Saturday Afternoon
Spend your Saturday afternoon with tutor Nadine getting creative with jewellery making, and learn how to make a simple ring from sterling silver in this 3 hour workshop.
Whether a hobbyist, enthusiast or exploring a career in jewellery, we will explore fundamental jewellery making skills and at the end of your workshop you will take home either a 6mm wide band ring or two 3mm wide chunky stacking rings.Choose from a selection of samples, find your finger size, and you’re ready to get making!
We will take you through this exciting process step by step until you’ve made your very own hammered sterling silver band ring.Materials are included in the cost of the workshop and no experience is necessary.All skill levels (18+) are welcome.
Here's what you’ll Learn:
How to use a piercing saw.
How to anneal silver.
How to use the pickle bath.
How to solder silver.
How to add texture using hammers and metal stamps.
How to sand and finish edges.
How to finish and polish your final piece.
Here's what to Wear:
Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. If you need glasses for close up work, don't forget to bring them.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE will be provided by benchspace for all courses that require it. It must be worn as directed.
