benchspace Bites are short, hands-on sessions designed to give beginners a taste of our craft disciplines.
Whether a hobbyist, enthusiast or considering a career in woodturning, we will explore fundamental skills and you will create your very own piece in a single class.
This session is ideal for confident beginners with suitable experience in other crafts, and also serves as a great skill-building opportunity for novice or experienced turners looking to refine their detail work.
In this 2-hour guided class, tutor Marea will introduce you to the fundamentals of turning fine details on the lathe, using a honey dipper as your project and you'll gain valuable foundational skills while crafting your own finished piece.
Materials are included in the cost of the class and all tools are provided.
We are fully inclusive and all skill levels (Adult 18+) are welcome, however, please note that this course requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow precise instructions with regards to safety.

Here's what to Wear:
Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. Prepare to be covered in wood shavings! If you need glasses for close up work, don't forget to bring them.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE will be provided by Benchspace for all courses that require it. It must be worn as directed. All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
