August Craft Month shines a spotlight on Ireland’s thriving craft scene and provides unique opportunities for people to learn about, make, see, and buy craft. Whether you’re curious to learn, eager to create, or looking to discover something handmade and meaningful, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Benchspace Bites are fun, hands-on introductory sessions designed for beginners to explore a craft for the first time. In just one class, you’ll learn fundamental techniques and create your very own piece — perfect for hobbyists, curious creatives, or anyone considering a future in making.
Get Started with Woodwork – We’ll Show You How
Curious about woodworking and ready to give it a go? Join tutor David for a relaxed Saturday morning session where you’ll get hands-on with the tools, techniques, and textures of this timeless craft. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll create your own serving board from locally sourced Irish hardwood. It’s the perfect introduction to working with wood: practical, hands-on, and creatively fulfilling. You’ll leave with new skills, fresh confidence, and a handcrafted piece you’ll be proud to use or gift.
Who can Join: This is a Beginner-Level class, suitable for Adults 18+ of all skill levels. Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow safety instructions are essential.

What you’ll Learn:

- How to accurately cut, sand, and shape wood using traditional tools

What to Wear: Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. If you need glasses for close up work, don’t forget to bring them.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): PPE will be provided for all courses that require it. It must be worn as directed. All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
