August Craft Month shines a spotlight on Ireland’s thriving craft scene and provides unique opportunities for people to make, see, learn about, and buy craft. Whether you’re curious to learn, eager to create, or looking to discover something handmade and meaningful, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Benchspace Bites are fun, hands-on introductory sessions designed for beginners to explore a craft for the first time.  In just one class, you’ll learn fundamental techniques and create your very own piece — perfect for hobbyists, curious creatives, or anyone considering a future in making.

Make Your Mark: Design, Cut, Create
Step into the world of laser cutting and unlock endless creative possibilities.  This lively taster session is perfect for anyone curious about what this powerful digital tool can do – whether you’re dreaming up ideas for your business, your art, or just for fun.
With tutor Aidan’s expert guidance, you’ll see our ‘Big Red’ laser cutter in action, transforming simple designs into eye-catching finished pieces.  Get inspired by sample projects, then roll up your sleeves: you’ll design, cut, and take home your very own custom creation.
If you can design it, you can laser cut it — come and see what’s possible!

Who can Join:  This is a Beginner-Level class, suitable for Adults 18+ of all skill levels.  Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow safety instructions are essential.

What’s to Note:

• • Please bring a laptop and a USB stick – you’ll need both to take part in this class

Here’s what you’ll Do:

• • Work with Inkscape to design cutting files
  • Use the laser to cut your designs

Where to Go:  This class is held in our BS1.5 workshop located at Eircode T12 KRH7.

What to Wear:  Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair.  Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors.  If you need glasses for close up work, don’t forget to bring them.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):  PPE will be provided for all courses that require it.  It must be worn as directed.  All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
