benchspace Bites – Drills 101 Saturday Morning

This bite-sized beginner course aims to demystify the drill. The drill is probably the most commonly owned and used power tool today, but while access to them has never been easier, many people fall into really common pitfalls when trying to use them effectively! We hope to build confidence and understanding of the versatility of the drill, and get hands on experience and feedback with the guidance of with woodworking tutor Elaine McFerran.

In this class:
We aim to differentiate between drills, drivers, hammer drills and SDS drills
We learn about the anatomy of our drills and understanding all their various functions, settings and limitations
We look at drill bits and screwdriver heads and learn how to select the right one that we need for a given purpose
We learn the difference between screws and bolts, nuts and washers and talk about lots of different fixings
We look at forstner bits, using them to create a small tealight holder to take home.
