Benchspace Bite – Intro to Stone Carving – December
Benchspace Bites are fun, hands-on introductory sessions designed for beginners to explore a craft for the first time. In a supportive setting you’ll learn fundamental techniques – perfect for hobbyists, curious creatives, or anyone considering a future in making.

Introduction to Stone Carving
Join us for a 3 hour session to explore the traditional skill of stone carving, where you’ll learn the basics of working with stone while carving your own piece featuring a simple Ogham inscription.
You’ll begin by marking out your inscription onto the stone before getting to grips with the essential tools and techniques used to carve it by hand. As your piece develops, you’ll learn how to control the tools to create clear, defined marks and bring your design to life. Throughout the session, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the carving process by tutor Tommey in a relaxed and supportive setting.
You’ll leave with an introduction to the fundamentals of stone carving and your own hand-carved Ogham stone to take home.
