We’re gearing up for a summer of classes, workshops and special events here at Benchspace starting this April.
Kicking off on April 7th we are partnering with the Lifelong Learning Festival to deliver a series of workshops highlighting the various disciplines that we support. This includes a Benchspace Bites (Tea light holder), a Woodturning demo, a 3d printing & Arduino demo & a workshop on Wood Finishing techniques. These events are free but we have selected Diabetes Ireland as our charity partner.
Benchspace Bites are also back in full force with 3 classes over the summer where you can make your very own piece in a single class, even if you have no previous woodworking experience. Over the summer we’ll make a Desk Organiser, a Live Edge Clock and the Rustic Coat Rack from last semester. We’d advise booking quickly as these classes sold out in a few days last semester.
Evening Courses will run again over the summer but will be extended by two weeks to allow people to miss a few weeks for holidays, The following sell out classes will return.
- June 11th – Frame Joinery (Beginner Level)
- May 8th – Box Joinery & Construction (Intermediate)
- June 3rd – Machine Skills & Safety (Advanced)
We are also pleased to announce a new Evening Course this summer for those who are interested in the more DIY aspect of Woodwork. Introduction of Practical Woodwork will start on May 17th and will focus on DIY & Practical carpentry using traditional hand tools.
Other changes in the workshop include our recently launched “Open Making Sessions” twice a month on Saturday mornings which allow you to rent a bench for the morning for €10 and work on your own project, we’ll be there to give you a little advice and guidance if needed.
We hope to see you in the workshop soon.
The Benchspace Team.
