This 8 week beginner-level course is designed to give you a solid introduction to woodworking using both hand and power tools. Whether you’re a complete beginner or someone looking to refresh the basics, this class will teach you the essential skills and knowledge needed to start creating with wood.

You’ll learn how to safely handle a range of tools, measure and mark accurately, make clean cuts, and assemble your work with confidence.  Each session with tutor Liam builds on the last, gradually developing your skills as you work toward completing your own wooden Drinks Rack – a fun, functional project that puts your learning into practice.

Instruction focuses heavily on safe working practices, helping you understand how to set up and use tools properly, avoid common mistakes, and work efficiently. You’ll gain hands-on experience with core techniques using a combination of traditional and modern tools.

By the end of the course, you’ll not only walk away with a finished piece but also the confidence to continue woodworking on your own..

Who can Join:  This is a Beginner-Level Course, delivering basic woodwork skills in hand and power tools through hands-on experience, and suitable for Adults 18+ of all skill levels.  Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow safety instructions are essential.

Here’s what to Wear:  Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair.  Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors.  If you need glasses for close up work, don’t forget to bring them.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):  PPE will be provided for all courses that require it.  It must be worn as directed.  All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
