benchspace Bites – Make a Zippered Pouch Bag – Friday Evening

benchspace Bites are our introductory sessions for beginners or novices where you will learn simple skills to build your experience, and make your very own piece in a single class.

This is a 2.5 hour class where the skill focus is how to insert a zip, with a very useful pouch bag as the project.

After choosing your fabric and zip combination from a large variety of plain & patterned fabrics so you can personalise your project, Jade of Mr Kite Designs will guide you through the process from start to finish and at the end of your class you will take home your own fully lined fabric zippered pouch bag.
Sewing machines are provided, but if you would prefer to use your own to gain experience using it you are welcome to bring it along with you.

Materials are included in the cost of the workshop and basic use of a sewing machine is preferred but not necessary.
We are fully inclusive and all skill levels (Adult 18+) are welcome, however, please note that this course requires hand-eye coordination and the ability to follow precise instructions with regards to safety.

Here's what you'll Learn:

• Basic sewing machine skills.

• How to piece fabric.

• How to line a bag.

• How to place a zip.

• Topstitching and finishing.

This class is held in our B1b unit located at Eircode T12 KRH7.

Here's what to Wear:
Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewellery and don’t forget to tie back long hair. Closed toe shoes are required on all of our workshop floors. If you need glasses for close up work, don't forget to bring them.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
PPE will be provided by benchspace for all courses that require it. It must be worn as directed. All specialist equipment and materials will be provided.
